MPs get on their bikes for the Love Leah Appeal(April 03, 2013)
North West MPs Steve Rotheram and Andy Burnham were among 40 cyclists who took to the saddle to raise funds in memory of a 19 year old road accident victim.
Walton MP Steve Rotheram and Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham joined the family and friends of Leah Davies from Lowton, in a cycle ride from Salford Royal Hospital to The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust.
The 28-mile trip was in aid of the Love Leah Appeal, a tribute to Leah, who lost her fight for life after an accident last summer. All funds raised will go towards relatives’ accommodation and extra rehabilitation facilities at The Walton Centre.
Leah’s father Andy Davies who organised the cycle ride, said: “It was a fantastic turnout, I really thought the freezing weather would keep people away.
“I would like to say a big thank you to our family, friends, colleagues from Virgin Media where I work; motorbike outriders from Leah’s bike club; and our MPs, who have all given a tremendous boost to our appeal.”
